Star Dragon's Den: Conlangs

Information about the artlangs created by Astaryuu

Navigation notes

At present, only Rokadong is present on this website. However, eventually I plan to add two other artlangs and one cursedlang.

The links in the navbar use FontAwesome icons to represent the following:

Rokadong

Rokadong is one of two languages spoken by the kanvas of the Quill Kingdom. The name "Rokadong" is a portmanteau of "rokalanren" (the name speakers use for themselves, meaning "people of six (stars)", as the number 6 is important to Rokalan, and thus Quillan broadly, culture) and "dong" (language).

In-universe, Rokadong originates from a coastal archipelago to the Quillan mainland. Those that originally settled on these islands spoke a language known as "Proto-Nensein", which branched into the (islander) Nenta family and the (continental) Saneta family thousands of years ago (along the same lines as Proto-Indo-European in the real world). The wider branches of these trees do not matter per se, just that people speaking Old Rokadong roughly 1,000 years before the "present" had contact with those speaking Sanényan (a member of the Saneta branch). Both languages thus have borrowed words from each other significantly; one could think of the relation as similar to that between English and French..

Rokadong draws significant inspiration from Malay and other Indonesian languages. In fact, the entire phonology was borrowed wholesale from Malay lmao.

Sanényan

Sanényan is one of two languages spoken by the kanvas of the Quill Kingdom. As a member of the Saneta family, Sanényan differs from Rokadong in that the former has tonality (with 4 tones) where the latter has vowel length. At present I'm focusing mainly on Rokadong, but I will loop back around to Sényan eventually.

Liðakuin

Liðakuin, or Lidhakuin as anglicized, is a very work-in-progress conlang I am also working on. The name comes from "liðak", the root for "shield," plus the "-uin" suffix meaning "from."

This conlang is inspired by Icelandic specifically and Old Norse generally, which technically makes it a germlang, though it is not developed with Proto-Germanic or Proto-Norse as its base, so it is better classed as an artlang.

Hatzonian

Hatzonian is one of the Kardonian languages, and the one most closely resembling Common Kardonian. It is spoken by millions of Kardonians, aliens with metallic shells on their limbs.
